What settings are you using within FCP? The ones I mentioned previously work with the Sony DSR45AP DVCAM deck. Are you using Firewire or a video card system?

March 6, 2009 at 4:21 pm in reply to: Need Help with poor quality DVD from FCP project *TIGHT DEADLINE*If you don’t have to burn it using iDVD, you could export it through compressor as 7MBS a second one pass cbr (for speed), and a 48kHz Aif and burn in DVD Studio. How long is the video? Even making a DVPAL (I’m in the UK, use your equivalent – DVNTSC?) QT at full quality and get DVD Studio to do the conversion would be better, assuming the problem comes from get iDVD to make a 1900 x 1080 60fps video into a 720 x 576 25fps one is the problem…

It sounds like you’re capturing off a camera, yes?
If so, make sure it’s set to accept external remote control and that you use the fcp easy setup preset “Firewire basic”.
It’s hard to give more advice with the information you’ve given here, but I hope that helps.:o)

March 6, 2009 at 3:58 pm in reply to: Best SD to HD upscale solution? Trying to make 4:3 footage fit into a 16:9 film, seamlessly!Heh, I realised after posting that it was the limitation of the demo. Even so, I don’t think there is any jump in image quality, and certainly not one you notice when the video is playing. Will try that compressor workflow, thank you!

I’m confused, how would I use compressor for upscaling?
I’ve tried the Red Giant Instant HD plugin and wasn’t impressed, also it gives a lot of colour artefacts in the image:Boris’ UpRez filter is even worse, though:

February 6, 2009 at 12:07 pm in reply to: How do you correct jerky playback on slowed down shots?Hi, the footage is 1950’s archive, so a reshot isn’t really an option. The machine I’m on doesn’t have motion, if I get time I’ll try that on a machine that does though, thanks!
For now, I turned off the frame blending and deinterlaced the footage, so there’s non of that horrible ghosting and no two steps forward on step back malarky going on.Right, now I shall put my next question to the forum…
:o)
