Although the help projects there don’t really help much, it was just an example of how to use the displace setting, and what I’m trying to work out is the frame displace. Interesting to know about though, thanks :o)

  • It seems to be that if you set some keyframes and then make the middle ones ‘rove across time’ that the next lot you put in go straight. Weird, but work-around-able!

    Thanks

Thanks, I’ve always done that keying in After Effects so guess I’ve never needed to know that!

I have no idea why I haven’t done it that way… I’ve been having a slow day… :os

Will try it when I’m back in work tomorrow, thanks!

I didn’t see your post when I put that last comment up, but yeah, just ‘talking’ about it can really help sometimes!

In case some one reads this thread where I’ve asked a question and then answered it myself (replying to yourself on an internet thread is the first sign of madness these days, yeah?), I have another related question…

I have little arrows that auto orientate to the path of the line – nice little built in feature that, had images of keyframing the turns in running through my mind – but the point where the path starts moving and finishes causes the arrow to point 90 away from itself (into the third dimension), and rotate slightly across the flat (second dimension).

I’ve tried keying out the 90 twist into the third dimension, but I get a flicker when it’s rendered.

I’ve uploaded it to demonstrate what I mean, the problem is most clearly seen at the beginning of the video. The map is rough, don’t judge its looks to harshly, please! Although any constructive criticism is always appreciated!

Sorry, I’m being stupid today, done. Spend ages being confused and then suddenly it all clicks…

Okay, sort of worked this out, by sacrificing the auto following camera trick in the tutorial I can just draw on the lines, that should have been obvious, sorry! Just need to figure out a way of adding a decay to the lines now…

  • Actually, that sounds perfect. I don’t necessarily want it to behave like those plugins. Now just to figure out those expressions…
