The footage is Pro Res, I transferred is from the Shogun hard drive onto my iMac’s internal drive.

Hmm, I think I stumbled onto it…click the wrench underneath the program window next to the timecode and click on Transparency Grid, which gives me the checkerboard. Interesting that there’s not a ‘white” option, but this will do.

I didn’t check the switch on the camera, but when I ran tone from the mixer into the camera, I was able to set the peak level with the audio pots on the camera, which would lead me to believe I had it in manual. I’ve heard audio techs talk about needles on mixers being “slow” or “sluggish,” but like I say, when I tried the Lectrosonics lav, the needles responded quickly. Does this mean the mixer just responds to the Sony lav differently?

Thanks, Steve. I think I should be OK. Only using for corporate video headshots and light interviews, so hopefully sweating won’t be an issue, so sounds like this should be suitable. Can’t beat it for the price.
One other question, I’ll need to get an antenna for the receiver (it doesn’t come with one). I have a couple foot long rubber duckies and a couple foot long wire antenna (they’re rigid wires with a small circular loop at the end). Are antennae universal, in other words, can I use the antenna I have from my other Lectro unit on this one?

Such a simple solution…thanks for your quick response. Actually, your suggestion made me think of another more expeditious solution…make a freeze frame of the composite and cut it in right before the dissolve point. This only works with the static art I’m dealing with now. I will definitely use your solution when dealing with a moving image. Thanks!

THe project I’m working on now was shot on an EX3, I used Log & Transfer to ingest the footage into FCP 7 and they appear in the FCP browser as XDCAM EX. I’ve tested Pro Res files as well and same problem.

I’m sorry, I’m not sure what you mean. If you mean withinh the frame of the canvas, then yes.
