I have been constantly running on the most recent version of OS X (now 10.3.9) since the inception of Panther. No issues at all. Rock solid.

Have you tried dropping a reference file into DVSP3? I’m pretty sure I’ve been succesfull with this many times.

  • I haven’t hooked up the HD system yet, but running the M100sw on my Dual 2.0 seems to be much faster and much more responsive (than my G4 867 running 8.2.2). I’m still not getting as much real-time as I thought I’d get though.

Did you try putting a moving alpha channel (like a pre-rendered motion title w/ alpha) over some footage. Real-time moving alphas! That is pretty awesome… can’t do that on 8.2.2

Yeah, that’s the way to go if you have the DV option on your XR system. That way you get it in and stay digital… also you’ll be able to keep the timecode information (where if you use iMovie you will lose that on the import to Media100).

If you have the other system to capture from (and then transfer it over), Media 100 sw and hd will see and use the media with no problem.

As for the deck, I have a DSR 1800 with an SDI card in it. I don ‘t know if your models have an SDI option or not… if so, that would work. Of course, you could always “promote” your analog component signal to SDI, but that is NOWHERE near as good of an idea as staying digital (i.e. capturing on a seperate Media 100i and using that media).

Good luck… Let us know what you end up doing.

I don’t think this could be it because you can’t import alpha objects unless it is in the Media100HD setting.

So after running off of the firewire drives, I do now get real time dissolves… And maybe one title with alpha… but that is it.

  • “The interface is still clunky…”

That is kind of a wierd comment when comparing M100 to Avid and FCP… Media 100 is a much more streamlined interface (and much more basic and simplified) than either of those two.

Media 100 can’t compete with Avid or FCP in features, options or settings… But what you do get is a simple and sensical interface for editing. Maybe not elegant, but definitely not “clunky”.

What exactly did you find non-intuitive? Maybe you are over-thinking a little bit here after getting used to FCP and/or Avid?

How do you change the codec setting?

I did install the M100HD codec on this system before I got the software beta. I have tested running off of both my internals and they are both slow… When I use a firewire 800 (Lacie Bigger Disk 1TB) things do run real time (at least up to two layers).

But where would I change the codec setting default?… oh, wait… I think I know what you mean… in media settngs, change the drop down? I think I’ve tried both… I’ll check again. Thanks!

    Thanks Floh… That definitely helps!

There doesn’t seem to be a bug, as I am able to find my style category with no problem in subsequent titles. However the leading doesn’t seem to stay with the style for some reason.
