I dig the Belkin design, and I have about 80+TB of hard drives that are firewire 800 that we pull material from all year long, so those ports are must haves for us. What Thunderbolt system did you get? Did you get one of the new Mac Pros?

AvidFX, aka BorisRed. It’s in the Avid effect palette. Add it to a clip, open the effect editor and hit a button and Boris opens up. Close Boris and you’re back in the Avid timeline with the effect(s) applied. I believe it still comes with Media Composer.

I’ve used https://www.transcriptionwave.com/ quite a bit and am happy with their work. You send them an .mp3 and they send you a script. There’s no timecode associated with the script but I use Avid’s ScriptSync so that’s not important for me.

When did you switch to Avid? I thought you were on Media100? Either way, hope Avid is working well for you!

They will hold, but it’s recommended to rebuild them whenever you upgrade. User settings can corrupt from version to version (especially when a lot changed, like it did between 6.5 and 7). Safer to make new ones. I do a screenshot of my keyboard and rebuild – take about 5 – 10 minutes.

I’ve been running MC7 since it was released. Definitely install the latest version (7.0.2, I think). It’s been very stable for me.

Probably. Just change the name back to a number only (1, 2, 33, etc…) and it should rebuild. Then you can change the name back after it scans.

There is alpha channel support in all flavors of DNxHD. It was added quite a while ago.

If you AMA linked and transcoded the first time, and you’re doing the same thing this time, Avid should automatically relink everything for you once the new transcode is done.

Check permissions on that bin at the desktop level. You should have read/write access to that bin. If you don’t, fix the permissions.
If you have read/write access then take all of your media offline (change the Avid MediaFiles folder name to xAvid MediaFiles) and restart Avid. Try to open it with all of your media offline. If it opens, you have some corrupted media. If that’s the case, make a new bin, duplicate your sequence and put the duplicate in it, then open the sequence and remove all timewarp effects/clips (I’ve typically had this error with timewarp effects). Then bring your media back online (change the folder name back to Avid MediaFiles) and see if your new bin opens and the sequence plays.

Select the clip and sequence in your bin, then right click the sequence in your bin and choose Relink. I wasn’t very clear on that.
In the Relink dialogue you’ll find the checkbox for “Selected items in ALL open bins”. See here:
Ideally your sequence will relink the offline clip to your new clip. I don’t think the fact that’s it’s a multicam clip will matter, but I don’t do a lot of multicam editing so I’ve never tested it.
Question: You said you brought in a new instance of the offline clip. What is the source material and how did you bring it in? The answer to that may affect your ability to relink.
