In the browser it says for frame size, “720×480” and then for compressor it says, “DV/DVCPRO-NT”

Ok i did everything u said but now the footage is stretched and the black bars are still there. I could manually go through and scale the footage to the proper size but it would be a major pain. thoughts?

I shot this with a Sony HDR FX1. I did NOT shoot HD. I shot this in in the DV format. will all the editing ive already done have to be redone?

Hey Russ can u explain this a little further in detail?

” Just send the file out in the native codec that you’re editing (unless you’re going to do an online edit later). You can save some space that way.”

Not sure what you mean by exporting in the native codec.

You can speed up after effects by using proxys. CHeck out Andrew Kramer’s Proxy tutorial here at the cow

    very helpful. good luck!

“Don’t export unless it’s for an SWF or FLV. Instead use the render queue. Quicktime’s Animation CODEC at at quality setting of between 92-96% is pretty good in terms of visual quality and filesize.”

How come you shouldnt export? I just started using the rendering queue but sometimes Ill just export my footage with either sorenson 3 or no compression at all and it looks good. cant u see artifaction in the animation setting? especially if u are saving out to a size like 720×480?

Hey Russ thanks for the suggestions. What I have been doing is capturing my video footage into FCP, then setting my in and out points. Drag that into the FCP timeline and export the clip out with no compression and using the current size. From there, I launch AE and import that clip and then add the effects, color corrections, levels, whatever else I want to do with it. When Im done working with it in AE, Ill export it again with no compression at current size. Then re import into FCP in order to be edited and cut up. So basically….what should I do here??? Should I just focus on editing a whole sequence or scene at once time and then worry about AE later? because as you can see, Ive been doing shot by shot. One at a time. Thanks
