Now that I think of it I’m not certain if all my files are in that format, but what I know is that the AVI files that do work well in the program are the same ‘size’ as the file type I want to use, while something like the cinepack codec is the same ‘size’ as mpegs (I don’t know how to better describe this, I’m referring to what appears the aspect ratio). All I know is that I want to use the same files my friend uses without problems, the files I download from ripped DVDs online. Other formats don’t give me the quality I want, are a huge size, or have rendering problems.

Oh, I use mpegs, which worked well. But AVIs (coming from formats from torrents) and other wmv forms didn’t work. Hmm, well, I had assumed the computer isn’t much different from what the majority has, I just want HQ videos on youtube that don’t get all ‘pixelly’ at certain points, that are clean like other videos there (here’s a good example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtHiS_5XQ5g). So I’ll have to check if Mp4 is allowed to be uploaded there.
I don’t understand why my computer can’t handle editing with the AVIs that my friend’s computer can though (who made that video) =/ I’ll get the specs on her processor.
I’ll see if I can figure out how to create the ‘3MBps progressive template’. Thanks!

  • Hmm, well I’m just making videos for youtube, so I hope the quality is okay for that. But I’ll look at your method. Thank you!

    Wow thanks!

  • Thanks for the reply! I found a format that’s smaller and works better, with these settings: mpg, 640×480, MPEG-1, 30 fps…but it takes forever to render! Really, as I type this it’s at 13%, it’s been going for 10 minutes and the clip is probably 30 seconds D: So I want to try your method before I stick with this, sorry about being a noob, but how do you do DV encoding? I also realize my computer might need some major cleaning -_-

Thanks 🙂 so now I know it’s pretty much impossible to make the speed super fast manually. Oh well, I’ll have to re-import it.
