I am a commercials editor and am looking to make the switch from FCP to either Premiere or AVID and this is a huge one for me. This function is pretty much the core of my selecting process where speed is everything, so a work around isn’t ideal. I have spoken to a few editors about the fact that this is not doable in Adobe Premiere, and I can tell you that it generally gets a shocked and disappointed “hmm”. It should really be a customizable option.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the info. I managed to play the tape on a P2 camera in the end and an HD deck (reading it as DV). Still not sure why our deck didn’t recognize it.

The tape did have a large number of TC breaks pretty close together which may have caused some trouble!
