    Hello

I was able to successfully update V8.0.1 to V8.1.1

    However currently m100 crashes when:

-Rendering Motion Path graphics (regardless of wether the Render command is selected within the Edit Suite or Media menu)

    -Attempting to launch Boris Graffitti

I carefully examined the Software Requirements and realized that not updating the Graffitti app alongside m100 was probably responsible for the crashes. The PDF says v2.1.2 is required. Please advise as to which file to download to update the current install (2.1.1).

Also the Software Requirements clearly state that Boris FX 6.1.2 must be installed. I will once again need your advice as to the best way to proceed, as the system we purchased did not include Boris FX discs.

Until recently I could not convince my employer to invest in a Macintosh. I am hoping to set up this Media100 system so he can get attached to the interface (he personally has no NLE experience) and eventually I can convince him that we must have m100HD in it’s current version; I have been helping to guide him through the tutorial process and these crashes are frustrating. So once again, thank you for your assistance… it is greatly appreciated!

Thanks a lot for the link!

I looked for the CPG but only saw one for a 2005 release of m100HD. I then tried downloading the zipped v8 manuals but it wasn’t in there… Anyway I gather that the slot order didn’t change between v7 & v8 so I’ll just configure them the same way although it seems to be running okay currently with a random order.

There are lots of updates here on this ftp site… Perhaps I can update this version?? It’s currently at 8.0.1 and I wonder if I must pay m100 to run the update… also if running just the latest update works or if they all need to be installed in sequence?

Thanks for the help; I wish I had more to contribute than questions in regards to this forum, but I do appreciate the assistance. We did recently entered a partnership with KulaByte though, to sell their HD streaming software and hardware (check out kulabyte.com). If you will be in Amsterdam for IAB I suggest checking out their booth, anyways if you have further interest in their products or want a demo link that’s something I could help with.

    Thanks again,

    hello

We have received our SATA card in the post today.

We are hoping someone can confirm wether or not the slot order of the pci cards is important to the setup process??

Thanks again for all of the help

    Hello

We are now in the process of locating the correct SATA card for PCI.

Why are external drives required? Is it because the M100 software was written to work with the media files connected to the PCI bus?

My employer attempted to run the tutorial, storing the media files on a second internal hard drive. The project crashes upon attempting the import. I assume this is somehow due to the drive arrangement, perhaps someone could shed some light on this one?

    Thank you,

    Hello Mr Mehta

I also purchased a version 7 Media100i system second hand and noticed the quicktime effects in the DVE transitions palate.

I attempted several transitions using the feature but the effect ends before the cut regardless of the cut setting (example: center-over-cut).

Perhaps there is an issue I am overlooking?

I am using 4:3 DV footage digitized using the DV option on the Media100 board. The clips used to create the transitions had suitable hidden source media for the cut; and the transition worked fine when tested with other basic effects such as dissolve.

Thank you very much for your help; I was very happy to read that other people are disscussing this effect because I have had trouble using it “effectively” (bad pun intended for your amusement).

    Thank you very much,

    Chris,

Thank you very much for your detailed response.

After running some additional tests it appears that I had just needed to update some settings on the raid to fix the problem.

    I do appreciate your assistance!

    Thanks again,

    Peter,

    Thanks again for your help.

    Here’s another quick question:

If using the light zoom effect as a transition within a FCP 6.0.3/Red 4 setup,

is there a shortcut to applying Light Zoom directly to clips in the FCP sequence timeline?

Let’s assume all of the current plug-in support upgrades from Apple are installed. I will confirm this with the system’s owner later. He told me some of the other RED effects will not show up in the Effects tab within FCP, but assumed this was another example of shoddy plugin support from Apple.

Let me know when you get a chance.

Additionally, an editor who I highly respect suggested that Boris Blue is a better app for transitions. He couldnt provide further explanation because of a language barrier, let me know what you think and perhaps we’ll give it a test run.

Thanks again for your help, it is greatly appreciated!

July 1, 2008 at 7:10 am in reply to: Power Point Presentation

    Hello

While there are certainly other ways of exporting a movie directly from a powerpoint project, here is a simple workaround that I have found effective.

Clients often bring me all types of media presentations that they wish to incorporate into standard-def projects for DVD output. Now that there are so many proprietary slideshow apps (including and besides powerpoint) it gets to be a time consuming hassle.

To save time, I use a laptop to play the presentation, using the dual monitor function to allow for video output from the laptop which I feed to the capture card; creating a new video file. Most laptops only provide S-Video output of video signals, so an adapter may be needed if you do not have a multibridge.

Of course, I would not recommend this practice for programs you intend to broadcast, but I have found that it is a great workaround to avoid frustration when working with new media in SD projects, such as DVD’s for corporate use….

    I hope this helps
