It does seem like its defaulting to the top view but I can’t imagine why it would do that. Try adding a camera and making it the top layer maybe that will get AE rendering from the right view.

Is this PSD in a comp already? If so Im not sure why the RoI is greyed out for you.

If you don’t want to mask it, an alpha matte would give you the same result or you can crop the psd in photoshop and it’ll update in AE when you save.

  • Cool man! Im interested in the content aware too. I’m just afraid to update in the middle of my projects haha.

  • Thank you steve i knew there must be a way

  • sorry lesterbanks not workbench. haven’t finished my coffee yet this morning and can’t figure out how to edit a post on here haha.

  • Check out this short tutorial from workbench about doing this. https://lesterbanks.com/2018/05/link-multiple-paths-expression/

You can link multiple splines together with the expression in there and animate it so it does look like the lines are going infront and behind of a object.

Theres probably a more elegant way, but I think the easiest way would be to set up the counting in groups of three digits.

So you could have three text layers and the comas on separate layers so they aren’t affected. Like:

    xxx , xxx , xxx

maybe just loop the first 3 digits going from 0-999 and time the other groups of digits to change accordingly.

Sounds pretty reasonable to me. 2 mins with alpha at 32bits will give you a big file for sure.

6400×192 is still a pretty big area of video even though its very narrow. Im not sure what a video wall is but depending on the effects and amount of layers you used that will add to the render time too. I would recommend straight alpha instead of premultiplied but if you don’t have a bunch of feathered edges or drop shadows you might not see much of a difference. I don’t think that would affect your render time or file size though.

Thats a ton of text. if you parent to a null like Steve was saying you might want to use an expression like this on the x position of the null.
just right click on position and seperate the dimensions

    temp = transform.xPosition
    temp+time*-60

You can change the 60 at the end to set the speed which the text will scroll across the comp.

April 3, 2019 at 7:30 pm in reply to: Audio reacting animation

theres a cool plugin called freq react https://davey.studio/react/

I’ve used it to do animations similar to what you’ve linked. It lets you “build on” instead of the property going back and forth with the audio amplitude. It’s pretty easy to use, it was free when I got it originally but it looks like it’s 30 USD now. It gives you control over what frequency range a property will will be linked to and lets you add the value so you could make that square move across the screen like in your first example.
