Some body had done a similar proofing service for them ( at no extra charge ) before and they assume that is the norm. i spent most of the weekend and today to prepare looks samples. We are attaching a modest bill for 50% Hourly rate. If they don’t accept the charges, i am not sure about my options.

Yah, i tried that. We even went as far as creating a 90 frame sample just for the proofing and applying the looks. They really want to see their options on the actual cut footage. As i am writing this my wife is preparing a reasonable bill for the proofing service that was not in the original draft of contract. i have a feeling it is not going to be smooth communications from this point on.

i have downsampled a copy of my sequence in compressor to Highest Quality H264 and 25% of frame size. I am going to bring that video to FCP and cut it to main segments of the production. Then i will be able to apply variety of looks to those segments and render a lot faster. So far this is the best solution i came up with and i am open to any idea aside from dropping the assignment.
