None of you understand my problem. I think I solved it on my own by creating 720 x 405 versions. Hay will playback full screen on HD TVs. It’s one thing to not provide help, it’s another to simply be rude.

    Thanks for he response.

I’m not looking to create an HD video for blu-ray. What I’m tryi g to do is create a DVD that plays full 1920 x1080 dimensions using a “normal” DVD player. There has to be a setting for this because I’ve seen it done.

okay great, thanks Jerry. Now I know they are here – how do I relink the settings to fcp?

I should add, that when I switch users on this computer I can access all of the video playback settings. Since they are located in Library > App Support, they are centralized, and narrows the problem down considerably.

Do you have any aren’t they being recognized by the computer’s main login?

The deck is connected HD SDI and is connected to an external monitor so we know it plays back video.

My question has nothing to do with 16:9 aspect ratio.

It has to do with the disparity between the intended output of 720×486 and the received output of 640×480.

    John,

Thanks for the response, but it didn’t really have any effect on the QT changing the aperture. It seems when I use FCP to export, and use their settings (say the 720×486 default) the footage comes out pefect in QT, but reads as having a frame size of 640 x 480 – which is neither what I exported as, nor the actual size as recognized by FCP (it imports as a 720×486).

It has to be an animorphic issue. I’m surprised this hasn’t come to light to Final Cut yet. Having a disparity between what quicktime recognizes outside of final cut, and what final cut recognizes itself is an annoying and nerve-racking issue.

I’d say I had a senior moment there, but I way too young for that slip. Thanks for the help John. You fixed to problem 100%
