I’m having problems concerning my external monitor hooked up to my editing system. I recently needed to change the settings for the video playback to a higher resolution to view in full frame. When I switched the settings back to the Blackmagic NTSC – 10 bit (720×486) it was at initially I lost the ability to preview in my external monitor.

I have tried switching the settings for the video playback and the AV devices to pretty much everything that is offered, but I have had no luck regaining video – short of previewing another edit system on the monitor, so its definitely an error in FCP and not something with the cable or the monitor itself. I have tried exporting the video to other monitors, as well as laying off to tape on dgibeta, but everything is without picture.

Are there presets I need to delete to regain video? I know this is a popular option for fixing FCP errors. Anything I can do short of a reinstall?

I’d say I had a senior moment there, but I way too young for that slip. Thanks for the help John. You fixed to problem 100%

Make sure in the View menu, External Video you have All Frames selected.
