Yes, that’s what I mean… component… Just in a hurry when I posted. We have so far, got SDI video and Composite video to output. I have captured SDI w/ machine control but ran into the block when trying to output to Beta SP and haven’t gotten further than that. But double checking the wiring and such leads me to the multibridge (settings or hardware, I’m not certain)…

Great question… I am trying to learn correction through the curves function in Adobe based software… I am getting some pretty good tutorials online and in the digital arts magazines. Thanks for the good pointers…

I love http://www.good-tutorials.com. It is a great place to learn tutorials for creative ways to work in Photoshop. If you haven’t used Photoshop, getting involved is a good way to start flexing creative muscles. I have to do my own graphics now… almost exclusively mine now in my spot work. I did a lot more long form work for training and the like, where most of the graphical challenges involved not throwing up from the clients multi colored powerpoints =) However, making that switch can really suck you in. I use Photoshop for almost EVERYTHING except video and animation… I also like looking at different websites to see color schemes, etc to see how they tie all the pages and fonts together… Also, dig out some of your favorite tunes while you do these. It’s better if you have good positive vibe.

easy solution? no… I’ve been scrambling myself and it seems that you’ll get a dozen different answers for what boils down to the same thing… I’ve seen Mac Only software… google Closed Caption Software… they used to be Leapfrog… and it will be the only one for the Mac that I saw… You’ll have to go over your hardware situation with all the vendors to find out what is best for your set up. You are VERY close to what I have. I edit on Media100… Mac Caption is not best for me (about 2.5 times my budget)… but you being a not for profit may be at an advantage I don’t have… I’m looking into EZPrompter Pro with caption module and encoder… Simple teleprompter software module. If you have a prompter head this might effectively kill two birds with one stone… good luck… I’d start digging now…

Yes, EZ News makes the same EZ Prompter software that we have been looking for… I have researched a ton and my poor brain hurts…
EZ News/Prompter seems like a nice solution… did you get the Link Electrnonics encoder/decoder with it?

I’ve talked with about a dozen or so software/hardware guys with some being an all in one solution and so far these guys are the most reasonable…
Thanks for the heads up…

You could always get them dubbed to the station’s format of choice (providing you have a shop that can do that for you). These folks should have the issue transferring DV to Beta (for example) worked out. You’ve got all sorts of set up, color space, volume levels that needs to be set up correctly.

Hard to believe only 1 response, but after digging and digging, information is hard to come by. Seems to me a great niche market to corner…

I have a 200 gig drive on an external FW case on my G4’s I have them partioned to under 100gig each. I don’t mix program content between the two so that any given project I work on won’t access both partitions at once. No crashes works fine. Don’t know if that helps. I’m not sure if I’m running the same set up you are but so far so good.

I doubt that downstream will work, I have two editing stations that need captioning. It might be that one downstream solution would work, if I could route the signals from the media100(s) to the encoder to the decks. That being said, I would rather have a software solution that would work with our current Media 100 (8.2.1. OS X 10.3.2) than anything else. I don’t have budget numbers but I will tell you that our solution will be the cheapest out there, however impractical… I have Boris Grafitti 3.0 already. I don’t really want to replace it but if something is out there that works better and does captioning, I’d be interested…
