Our quality looks great on a CRT television. But what I’m learning here is two things: 1. I’ve been looking at the wrong LCD/plasma displays and I should shop around because some handle standard def resolution better than others. 2. Starting with a better master before going to mpeg2 will also help when viewing on LCD/plasma displays since it’s really showing every inaccuracy in the footage.

We’re using the JVC 110u and there is no issues with shooting DV on it and playing back on a Sony device.

Yea, same with us. We need to get a couple ordered to pass the time. Do you know what the name of the battery is that we should search for on ebay?

The benefits to the pro battery that I can see is that with the 110 the viewfinder and the screen can both run at the same time. That’s the only feature I could find that needed the pro battery. We will probably end up with the IDX system since JVC had a deal in March that you got a free one if you bought a cam by the end of March. It rushed our purchase but for an $800 value it was worth it. I do believe that is the cheapest option; the Anton Bauer(?) is just over $1k I believe.

My question is how long the IDX battery lasts compared to the prosumer versions that are around 45 minutes. Anyone know?

Wow, i didn’t realize that. We’re looking at the 110/200 right now and that will be a major issue. Is that only with HD or does it affect SD also? We get subbed out by companies all the time and we just send them the tapes which for DV it doesn’t matter what you shot it with.
