Hi Nigel.
You cannot put a ProAnimator object in a 3D Flag scene with this version of 3D Flag.
You may be able to “fake it” by positioning your flag in 3D space, making it look like it’s attached to
the PA object (make it look like it’s just behind the spire). If you’re careful with your camera animation,
you can move it around and keep the flag and spire “attached.”Let us know if you have any questions.

Hi Todd.
I’d be happy to look at your project — it’s probably showing a bug in Serpentine.
Would you be able to send me your project (just the .aep file – no media files necessary)?
Send files to: matt@zaxwerks.comIn the meantime, I’ll do a quick perusal for where this message could occur.

August 25, 2009 at 5:18 pm in reply to: Little Boxes ghosting in the Viewport around mouse pointerHi Jeff.
There does seem to be a refresh problem with the OpenGL window. I’m guessing it relates to an incompatibility between our software and your graphics card.
We don’t currently have a solution, but hopefully it’s not too much of an annoyance.Let us know if you have any more questions.

August 14, 2009 at 5:03 pm in reply to: ZAXwerks 3D Warps – can a warped layer cast shadows???Hi Michal.
In order to have a 3D Layer Warp layer cast a shadow onto a “floor” in AE, you’ll need to select that floor layer using the “Shadow Catcher Plane” option.
Therefore, do the following:
1. Find the Shadow Catcher Plane parameter near the bottom of the 3D Layer Warp params.
2. Select your floor layer using that param.
3. Make sure you have lights with shadow casting on.We can’t cast shadows onto every 3D layer in AE, so we give the option for you to select a floor layer – and we’ll cast shadows onto that layer.
Let us know if you have any questions.

Hi Tapio.
We have a beta (not quite released) that you can use with FCS3.
There have been some bug fixes and some compatibility updates.Email me at matt@zaxwerks.com and I can send you a test version.
Thanks.

Hi Adeeb.
We don’t require a particularly powerful GPU, so any modern graphics card should suit you well.
If you want to work with a lot with textures, make sure you get as much VRAM as you can (256 is good, 512 is better).
If you want to work with complex geometry, pay a little more to get a faster graphics card.
Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi Dave.
While I don’t quite understand your post, we do have a new beta version you can test.
It fixes quite a few bugs and stability issues.Send me an email and I’ll send you a link to the installer. Send an email to: matt@zaxwerks.com
Thanks.

Hi Chris.
Here are a few tips on how to set up a camera-tracked PAFx scene:
1. Create a 2D layer that fills the frame (yes, make sure it’s 2D and not 3D).
2. Make it the top-most layer (unless you want other graphics in front of the PA 3D objects.
3. Apply the PA effect to that 2D layer.
4. In the PA effect Inspector (or in the PA effect HUD), find and select the “Use 3D Camera from Project” checkbox – this tells us to grab your project’s camera values and use them in the PA scene.
5. Add other 3D planes, lights, etc. and animate your scene. At this point, you should be able to animate the camera and see the PA objects orienting as if they’re in the same scene as the other 3D Motion layers.
The PA object should look like they’re in the 3D Motion scene, with a caveat:
– Since the PA objects are actually in a 2D Motion layer, they can’t intersect with any 3D layers in the Motion project (but objects in a PA scene can intersect other objects in a PA scene)Therefore, if things aren’t working as expected, check the following:
– Make sure the Group containing the ProAnimator effect is 2D, not 3D.
– Make sure you’ve checked “Use 3D Camera from Project” in the ProAnimator Inspector.
– Make sure you added a camera to the project.Let us know if you still have questions. If you can send us a project, we’d be happy to take a look.
Send files to: matt@zaxwerks.comThanks.

Hi Todd.
Could you post a picture of what you’re seeing? I’m sure we could offer some advice.
Thanks.
