Thanks so much Joe. I’ll check those effects out.

I’m not convinced that the other effect is natural though 🙂
    After Effects senses tingling…

    Cheers

Sure. I’ve tried converting the H.264 to Photo JPEG. Is that a good video codec to use?
I don’t think I need the quality or footprint of something like ProRes.
I still have the same audio codecs to choose from though. Could you suggest a good audio and video codec combo for my MOVs that is more native please?

Thanks for all your help with this. 🙂

It’s an H.264 video with IMA stereo pair audio tracks. Ive converted to H.264 video with PCM audio tracks too. Is there any way I can transcode the file so the audio will play unrendered when no effects are applied?
    Many thanks

No it still needs rendering. This is the same for IMA 4:1.

(It only takes a second or two to render a 10-minute file so it’s very workable even though I don’t understand why.)

Yes it is a stereo pair. Glad I’m not going mad.
    I’ll give it a go.

    Thanks for the reply.
I don’t mind about the displayed aspect ratio, I just need 720 rendered pixels on the horizontal instead of this strange 703px.

The capture is 703px (I don’t know why, does anybody else?) but my comp is set to 720px so I don’t understand why the output is still 703px rather than 720px.

Here are the details of the output file if this helps:

    Hi Mark
The ceiling is definitely very solid whatever it’s made from so I won’t be able to take anything up above it. There is a beam in the middle of the ceiling running parallel to the back wall so we might be able to attach a rail to that.

Yeah, the building is basically in the middle of a field hehe. I had a good listen and there isn’t any real background noise, just the occasional ‘clonk’ from people walking past the room but there will be signs going up that’ll warn people that we’re recording

Thanks for that Mark. That’s been a huge help.

Yeah, Photoshop and After Effects are as important IMO.

I think that, as a junior, it would show application and dedication. The price isn’t a factor, but, in a way, that would emphasise commitment.

In my opinion it will act as an at-a-glance benchmark in technical and troubleshooting skills.

Thanks for all the info Chris! That’s brilliant.

I’ll check them out. All of the London trainers look fairly good from the websites so it’s great to get a recommendation.

I totally agree with your points below:
This qualification may be of direct use with some broadcasters like the BBC or Channel 4 because many of their current staff have this certification and it means one less thing to check off on their skills matrix list in job applications. As stated earlier in this thread having your certification will not hurt your job chances and it is proof of some knowledge of FCP.

    Yeah, that’s true.

I guess I’m just thinking that, if an employer had the choice between a good editor and the same editor with a pro certification, they’d probably choose the latter.

I guess it’s the same as the whole “How much is a degree worth?” dilemma.

Anyone know where I can get a copy of any example questions?
