Looks like this might be a fairly affordalble solution with remote controls and no need for a router. At $299 this could be a nice Companion to a t3i but if you are shooting with a camera that supports high rez HDMI output for that price you might as well just get a regular monitore unless you need the wireless capabilities (up to 150 feet) and remote control which would be very nice to have in a multi camera shoot like a wedding. I believe it is saying you can controls focus in increments which could be very handy when trying to do a multi camera shoot with just one or two operators.

July 22, 2008 at 8:18 pm in reply to: where do I install dX and vst audio plug ins?

downloaded vegas 8.0 Pro demo and now I can see that it was the DX version that was packaged up with the plug-in that I was using as it shows up twice in vegas 8.0 both as a DX and as a VST. I like how easly 8.0 keeps track of plug-ins and it is nice to have a real audio mixer. It should have been added a long time ago.

I don’t like that the program automaticaly opens up with the time line on the bottom. I know why they did it and I found how to change it.

I can see I am going to have to up grade to 8.0 to run all the cool studio plug ins and toys that I want get like Amplitube Meatl and Classic Studio Reverbs for my hobby recording.

I use Vegas primarly for pro video editing but for fun I compose and recod msuic with it.

I never could get the rest of BLue Cat plugs to work even in 8.0.

I think I figured part of my problem. It seams I was using amplitubeLE before(it has a directX plug in). now I am trying to instal AmplitubeLive 2 (VST). I tried installing the VST to DX adapter (demo version). I don’t think it is working right. I select in in the plug in manager and it has a couple blank black boxes that show up in the plug in veiwer. (doesn’t work with XP?)

I have been trying to install some free DX plug ins Blue Cat and Freeverbx. Freeverbx doesn’t seam to have an installer just a W98 activation. I have installed blue cat in the defalt folder but they don’t show up in vegas. I think I will try down loading the demo of Vegas 8 and see if I can get any of this to work with it.

I think the last versesions of 5.0 do support vst but I am thinking there was some special way that I had to install them. this is driving me crazzy.

It is real tempting to buy 8.0 there are a # of features that I have been wanting.

I have use amplitube Live before in it and T-Racks but had to reinstall on a new drive and can’t get it to work. there is a VST folder but Vegas is not finding it.

May 1, 2008 at 2:09 pm in reply to: Vegas 7.0 and Sony m2ts problem

Have you done M2ts project before that are over an hour?
You may need more memory I have had problems when I start loading large projects into Vegas 5.0. Try
closing down all extra background process for starters. This usually clears up strange picture and audio
glitches. Second try splitting up the file. Just go about half way down the time line hit split and save the
Vegas file than delete the second half. Render the first half to a lower compression or uncompressed
format like Sony avi. Then reopen the Vegas file and delete the first half from the time line and render the
second half. Now open a new Vegas file and put the two uncompressed files on the time line and render
    your DVD.

I had a project with several large photos m2ts and uncompressed files with lots of motion that kept
crashing on me during rendering. I had to do a similar process and it worked. I only have 1.5 gigs of Ram.
I really need to get another .5 gigs

You may want to try some different settings on your DTE drive. I know I have used some third party HDV capture software that resulted in a M2Ts file that slowed Vegas to a crawl. I had to render it out to Sony avi before I could do anything with it.
