Thanks for the advice…but where do I find the “write caching” function? I cannot locate it.

Everything is going thru Firewire. Would changing the playback tape format setting from AUTO to DVCAM be the issue?

Anyway. There must be something to sitting down and writing out your thoughts after spending waaayy too much time trying to figure out a solution to a simple problem. At least that must be the way it is for me…because about 2 minutes after I got fed up and posted a plea for help…I tried something different than the other things I had been trying before.

I used the import function instead of grabbing straight from the file browser. I don’t generally use the import because once a long time ago Motion didn’t like the way I was trying to import a file and I decided that that wasn’t the way I should go and I put import out of my mind..until about 2 minutes ago…and this time it works.

Even though I didn’t give anyone here a enough time to respond. Thanks for being there to let me put my thoughts out and figure it out anyway…..back to work now.

February 19, 2008 at 9:45 pm in reply to: New Deck Purchase Suggestions?

Okay Chris, we bought the BR-HD 50 and it plays great to the monitor all the formats that our JVC HD 110 shoots.

But, and I am hoping you can help here. I can’t seem to find the magic flavor combination to make it work on our FCP 6.0.2. Specifically, I cannot get the Capture tool to allow me to see HDV-SD60p and HDV-HD30p. The only way I have been able to see what is going on is to using Apple Intermediate codec and that does not allow me to add in and out points and batch capture. It just says capture and it goes to town.

I am hoping to be able to capture these two formats in the same easy fashion that I do the NTSC DV 60i stuff.

Could you please suggest what the magic combo might be? We are using firewire from the deck to the Mac Pro OSX.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. If I could get a deck for the cost of the Firestore….that would be ideal.

So, I guess I have to get past my reluctance to go to a tapeless world. Firestore sounds great….but I guess I am so old-school because I really like having a tape to touch and hold and throw in the trash when it gets a wrinkle in it.

I have never seen a Firestore in action. Now I have something to go look for while my machine is rendering.

Thanks again for the help ya’ll.

Sorry. Nevermind. I figured it out…..silly me. How embarrassing.

I had it set to ALPHA not RGB.

    Thanks for listening anyway.

Took the machine into the Mac Pro guys at my local Apple store. They said I was experiencing a kernal(sp?) panic. They replaced the logic board and the board on the front that has the firewire connected and said it should be fine now.

Funny thing is that when iDVD finishes burning a disc and I shut the program off, I get the same error as when I disconnected a firewire device. Weird huh?
