On this particular project, I was importing an .m4a. The audio itself would be cut short, but the track length would remain the same.

I created a .wav version of the song and re-imported it, and CS3 recognized the last couple of seconds. The song played like it should have originally.

If anyone understands why this occurred, I would appreciate an explanation. Thank you in advance.

    Teddy,

You might try looking at some of the tutorials on https://www.videocopilot.net/

I’m not sure if it will help you with your problem, but some of the basic ideas may put you on the right track.

    Don,

Thank you for the answer. I appreciate the insight. I’ve tried to run my own tests, but at the moment I only own a copy of CS3. Premiere won’t recognize the .mpeg4 files out of the BPAV file, and After Effects won’t recognize the .mxf files. So I felt my own tests couldn’t be completely objective. Just wanted to make sure it wasn’t the separate programs causing a different export result each time.

My question is a bit of a rabbit trail, but still pertains to the same topic. For all of my shoots, I copy the entire BPAV folder, store it, and create a backup. And I do the same for the .mxf files I export out of clip browser.

My question is, am I losing a generation in my media files if I export them from clip browser, as opposed to using the files directly from the BPAV folder?

  • Brent, just to let you know. I’ve been using the MxM adapters with the SanDisk 16Gb Class 10 cards for the past couple of months. I’ve never had to reformat the media. I did have my EX1 updated by Sony. It took them close to three months to get it back to me, but that’s another story entirely. In the end, I have no problems with the media or adapters.

And the guys at mxmexpress.com have been wonderful to work with. I ordered another adapter not too long ago, and they added in a couple extra for free. And they’ve got quick shipping responses from their office in Australia.

I am saving up for the Nano Flash, but the money isn’t all there. So this has been a good alternative in the mean time.
