I tried using Motion, but I ran into text rendering bugs that wouldn’t allow me to change the text size without having weird text rendering. As for Boris Title Crawl, 1) I have to go through and manually re-format all the text, and I can’t have a credit scroll longer than about 2 minutes.So, basically, I can’t and shouldn’t do it this way? The main problem for me is that none of the options I have will allow me to keep all the rich text formatting and I really, really can’t and don’t have the time to go through and reformat the entire three pages of credits.

Okay. I haven’t used Motion extensively. Can you give me a quick, easy way to do it?
I tried typing in the duration! It’s driving me crazy! I right-click, choose “Duration” and type in 5 minutes (00:00:05;00) and it changes back to the longest time I can drag it out to, which is 00:00:02;04. Is this just me? Or are other people having this issue? -
Oh no problem. Sorry, I should have looked a little closer…I don’t have as much of a problem with sound as I do with the settings for shooting in a theater. I really need some tips on what aperture, shutter speed and ISO settings I should use…I know from hearsay that shooting in a theater is really hard due to the state lights and such…

I am shooting both the dress rehearsal and both of the actual shows.
What is zoom feed? I tried Googling it and I couldn’t come up with a definition… -
I am planning on having to secondary panning angles.
I am using Magic Lantern to lower the bitrate, and thus achieve the full 29:59 that the camera can handle. I also did some tests and the 550D overheats after about 3 hours, but doesn’t actually shut off. I’ve never had it shut off.
All of the cameras will be in the balcony with the possibility of one of the three tapings being in the main audience area.
Distractions? This is how it’s always been filmed, so I don’t think it’ll be a distraction. If it is, the people on charge know and are okay with it.
Soundwise…all the speaking actors are miked. I plan to use a Zoom H4n to record the house feed from the main soundboard. I will also have a shotgun mic on the main camera angle for extra audience noises and such…. -

Yes I understand that. I am going to be mixing in camera audio for that. I was keeping that in mind, but thanks a ton for reminding me!
Rifle mics? Are you referring to shotgun mics? I don’t have the money to be spending $1K on a single mic. 🙂 I don’t think I can hire in gear. I’ve looked for local places and I can’t find any.

Thanks for all the good advice. I will have all the lines miked by lav mics. This mic/these mics will only be used to record other noise (see my other response). In regards to placement, I can’t exactly put mics on the procenium. Foot vibration will probably be a problem and a mic on a short stand would be noticeable both in the video and from the audience. Like I said in my other response, I will probably put them in front of the stage (not the procenium, but on the floor in front of the stage behind a large ramp) or hanging from the trusses above the stage. Do you have any specific mic recommendations?
