If the Blending mode is on screen, then when his type goes behind, it will show through the footage as well. If the Earth is spinning in place, you could probably get away with a circle mask on the footage. Maybe toss a .5 feather on it to help integrate it more seamlessly. I don’t know what the footage looks like, but you might even be able to get away with a luma key (effect, keying, luma key). Try to key out darker and play around with the tolerance settings.

Hey there is a timecode filter in AE. You can apply it to a solid and have it countdown from 5 mins. It will display it like timecode, so you will get hours, minutes, seconds and frames. Not sure if you can change that. I don’t think so.
