i’ve been told that capturing thru decklinks capture utility you can capture as QT..

But you can’t use the utility for live capture, right? (I get an error about no deck control and the program crashes)

If there are no settings for capture, what bits are we capturing at?

Well, my MBE _SEEMS_ to be working.. Although I was hoping I could route more in/out than I seem to be able to.. For instance, let my DecklinkHD downconvert on the fly my live signal, pass that back into the MBE into SDI channel 2, then route that out of the MBE’s NTSC composite.. But apparently, no can do..

Right now I can only see live picture via the Capture utility in vegas, then drag that to the timeline to see it on the preview monitor..

The only way I’ve gotten it to work is to install the Multibridge Extreme drivers on a notebook computer to control the MbE, and only have the desktop drivers installed on the computer with the Decklink HD card..

I’m waiting for my Dell24″ monitor to come in, so I don’t have a DVI display yet.. Is there another way to monitor a live feed? For instance, we have a Sony Z1 hooked up to the MbE via analog component.. I am capturing via Vegas 6.. Can I route the live signal to the analog component out so we can check focus and life picture on set? Or do we have to wait for the DVI monitor?

Please note that down conversion has not yet been added to Multibridge but we want to get back to that as soon as Multibridge Extreme has been released.

Can I still do HD SDI to component conversion? If so, I could get a downconverter box like this and downconvert the analog HD signal for NTSC record/playback:

Basically, my situation is this: if I’m in the studio, I’ll probably be just bringing in either analog component HD from a Z1 or HD SDI 720p from a Varicam or deck.. If I’m in the field doing video assist, I need to view the HD SDI signal live on a dell 24″ LCD monitor, plus be able to record a signal for playback using a DV clamshell.. In some rare situations I may take my system out and record HD live, and then I can just check playback from the DecklinkHD card..

Is there simultaneous HD/SD output on the multibridge?

If I have HD SDI 720p from a Panasonic Varicam into the multibridge, can I get HD SDI AND NTSC composite out? AND HD analog component out? This would be great for video assist which I do a lot of..

Analog component in -> NTSC composite AND HD SDI (for capture) out?

I’m researching the archives, but can’t get specific answers.. I’d like an all-in-to-all-out situation.. I have a Decklink HD I can hook up to it for digitizing, and a Dell 24″ LCD for a HD monitor..

I also have a HDV camera.. Should you stay HDV the whole time, or would capturing live HDV camera footage into DecklinkHD via analog component be better? If not, why go decklinkHD at all?

I don’t know how the internal bios of your adapter is made of, but check if cache memory for read and write of the hard drive (and may be the adapter) are not turned off. Sometimes with factory settings it could be, to prevent data lost in case of power failure.

I talked to tech support and they stepped me through checking the settings for each drive.. Everything was deactivated and in a default state.. Activating Read/Write cache for each drive now gives me 250Mb/s read and write!

Ok, last night I tried a couple things.. First, I set the PCI-X speed to 133Mhz instead of Auto. No change. Then, I pulled the DecklinkHD card. No change. Then I put the RocketRaid card in the other PCI-X slot (the one the decklinkHD card was in). No change.

I guess I’ll call RocketRaid (High Point Technologies) tech support today..

Wait, I misunderstood you.. If you mean the internal SATA drive ports ON THE ROCKETRAID CARD, then yes, that is what I’m using..

There are only two PCI-X slots available, slot 1 has the decklink card, slot 2 has the RocketRaid card..

I don’t see any errors (!) in the hardware manager..

If that is the 4 blue cables that came with the card, yes (everything is internal to the computer case, not external RAID drives)..
