Thanks much for your replies, guys. I really appreciate it.

So the consensus is that it’s best to import the AC3 audio as a separate file into the dvd burning software and then bring in the self contained .mov of the video (with no audio) and smack them together for blu ray encoding?

Also, as an aside, would the blu ray simply play the audio as 2 channel stereo if the end user does not have DD 5.1 capabilities?

So best to put the 29.97 stuff thru Compressor to match the frame rate and codec of the 23.98 footage to avoid it looking ‘skippy’?

Actually, I might be able to purchase to a G5 PowerMac, Dual 2ghz, with 4Gb of Ram with FCP 7 installed. Certainly this should be sufficient to edit HDV imported from Cannon HV20, yes?

Vince, I tried multiple things and nothing seemed to work and then suddenly…..it worked. I don’t know how or why but I don’t care. It worked. Thanks for the suggestions.
