very simply, becuase yet again for some reason quicktime png will nto encode say past 30 mins of footage no matter how much space you have. I encoded into sections.

so its the same footage as before 1280 res 23.976fps. So what i was trying to do was join the mopv files together without re encoding the lot.

durign the time of waitign for your replies, i had come across allok video joiner and it worked a treat, although did take 8 blooming hours to join the files.

but just so i know for next time, is there a way to import the seperate files and replace the footage in the project?

ok ive kicked off that. i take it that all the psd files will merge into one complete file at the end, or do i need to do soemthign for it to be as a video file for the project to continue

ok first i was told to use prerendering, and now you say proxies?

well the reason i needed to pre render in sections was becuase ae kept crashing, but with smaller amounts it was fine. how ever after the inital first selected area, it wont pre render from when i want it to.

so with that in mind am i knackered, or will the proxie not make ae crash like the pre rendering is doing. and with this proxie you speak of, will that allow the encoding in selected section after selected section?

since i cant edit my own topic.

how come i can pre render up to the end timeline that ive selected, yet when i go to the next selected points to which i want it to render, it doesnt render the start point selected as it will do the start of the footage?

DON’T install QT 7.4 if you use after effects

this is now the same with 7.6.6(1671) aswell as i cant even get it to start the pre rendering on the new hdd.

ok so looking at the 3rd clip im doign which is now 20 mins in lenght and has 40 mins left in encoding.

looked back at the secound clip with its temp file and its grown significantly from the first 5mb file temp.

    2nd file is 1.7gb

and now the 3rd temp file which is still growing is currently 34.6gb where the physical file is 23.1gb so far

to save space, is it safe to delete the temp files after its finished the encoded section that it is doing?

334gb spare <-------------- that is as close as it will get to a "designated" area of space for the project. also found that doing the encode in 10 min chunks hasnt a single issue. so now trying 20 min chunk see what happens. if that works, it means theres an issue somewhere , becuase each temp file has yet to go over 5mb even thought the ouput file has been 15gb. maybe the png/animation has limitations to the file size?
