Nope :/ My friend can render my same exact project, I sent him all the files, and on his machine, it completely skips the “preparing” and starts rendering straight away. He uses the same settings as me, except he uses regular irradiance cache, and I use legacy because it’s a lot faster. The render quality looks exactly the same, and on top of that, he is using an old Mac, which has a dual core Intel processor, and integrated graphics, while I’m using an i5 4670K quad core and a Gtx 970 Graphics card. It’s clearly an issue with c4d, because I can render anything else faster than him, and it’s definitely something to do with global illumination, because if I turn it off, it begins rendering straight away. Stuck :/
