I would rather see adding AVCHD native editing for selection and rough cuts. Then transcode that to better codec for final edit, colour correction and post effects. Less waste of harddisk space and more importantly my time.
I got a Panasonic GH1 and from what I’ve seen it has the least problems of all vDSLR models with rolling shutter skewing and jello. You can check my two first little films with it here: https://vimeo.com/marttiekstrand/
I mostly work in 1024×576 comps in AE which I then pre-comp and scale 75% horizontally in a 720×576 comp and render that out for playout in Final Cut Pro. I also use that pre-comp for monitoring on a CRT set to display 16:9
Isn’t the Xbox360 intentionally blocked from playing out in full HD to capture cards in the vain hope of thwarting piracy? Just like HD-DVD/Blu-Ray players.
With the excellent USB Overdrive you can disable the scroll wheel entirely in AE but not just in the comp wheel. Or you can replace the scroll command with almost anything including keystrokes. I’ve set my scroll wheel to ‘page up’/’page down’ so I’m able to scroll one frame at the time forward/backward in all panels but Project and Effects list. Very handy if you can stand not being able to do normal up/down scrolling in list and layers anymore.
I find the Logitech G5 laser mouse excellent both for work and games – in conjunction with USB Overdrive. Logitech own mouse settings panel/driver is crap – don’t even think about installing it.
However I mostly use my Wacom board in AE.
