I was able to capture using ProRES by doing a workaround install of the ProRES codec using unpak. No need to install Final Cut More info here: https://goo.gl/r0TqQA

I found this post very helpful despite the age. I was able to get the ProRES codec to work without having to install Final Cut, or other ProApps using the unpkg method and the codec update from the apple website. I documented the process on my blog: https://goo.gl/r0TqQA
