Our advice and experience has taught us to NEVER make those kind of changes before or during a project. You’ll no doubt have some learning curve, bugs etc. on any new release and to put a paying project at risk like that is not wise.

Stay with what you have “tried & true” doing paying jobs. In the meantime get your 2 upgrades and become familiar with them until you have the stability & confidence that they now can move through post with no issues.

We normally do this on a separate work station and bring it online when tweaked & tested is ready to go. BUT, if you don’t have a 2nd cpu, you can still FCP 7 to play with with, read for the next few weeks the comments on Snow Leopard and possible FCP 7 issues and see what happens there and I’d wait until a break in business comes, Leopard stabilizes THEN load the new OS.

There’s just to much that can go wrong with any new release to put clients & YOU at risk. Graphics card issues, plugins, other app’s a multitude of compatibility issues etc.

Well, the link Todd gave me on performance was a huge help and yes now I agree. The help desk and info. that I see now from Adobe is MUCH better, MUCH, MUCH better than in the past and most other companies. I love the addition of Adobe TV. With the sophisticated type of software that we all use today this is a welcomed customer service value added service. I wish Adobe TV was just a little bit more organized though, in being able to find the exact group of video’s you need.

But your right, now that I’ve been pointed in the right direction AE seems to have very good documentation.

Well I think after using MAC’s work stations since 1988 we know how to run MACs. It’s just sometimes certain applications, like certain things enabled or disabled to run optimized…usually in pref’s. Like Open GL ON/OFF, software/hardware usage, amount of RAM allocated etc.

And usually, manuals aren’t very helpful with, in field tips on issues like this. At least that’s been our experience.

No other app’s show symptoms. Our work stations run great. But AE really seems to suffer especially, when importing a 3D file from PS.

I thought maybe it was some as you said, “simple user errors” that we might be doing and was looking for some advice on what we might be doing wrong.

BTW my Graphics Card is a ATI Radeon X1900.

I had 6.

And in the top left window where the clips came in, the top 3 clips had the little blue circle selected.

I dragged all 6 to the queue and all 6 rendered to full .mov’s.
