  • Hey Rafael,

Yeah, that Popcorn script is not a good option.

Do you use AutoDuck w/FCP yourself? I’m assuming so.

Does it bring over audio clips synced and everything?

Any problem w/3rd party effects applied in FCP like the ones I mentioned in my first post?

You know…the one thing that I’m really concerned about is, OK, Duck brings everything in to AE fine. OK…you apply certain effects to certain clips and now you output. Well the way i understand it, when you render & export from AE I can create a .mov of the whole thing. Now when the client looks at it and wants some revisions (say to the way type tumbles in or something) I don’t see how you could make any revisions. You’d have to go back to FCP, bring everything back into AE, apply those effects again and make the changes etc. and output again. Boy what a horrible work flow.

    You thoughts?

  • Ok, thanks guys. So like I thought, it still needs to go through LT.

Hey Jeremy…here’s the link to Apples page where I quoted from. Scroll down just a bit. Easy to find.

    One last word.

There are some things OR should I say—few things—that size doesn’t matter. And this is certainly one of them.

    Sensor that is.

You asked for our advice and that’s what you received.

    Good luck!

Yeah I have seen that same info.

Duo has no plans for supporting snow.

One very important thing to remember when buying a camera is….you’re not just buying a camera. You’re getting married to a company. You’re entering into a relationship. SO…you have to heavily weigh how they are going to treat you down the road. How’s their tech support? Can you call someone easily and talk to them? Once you buy the camera AND ALL THE OTHER GEAR FOR THAT CAMERA is any of that gear going to be any good for when you upgrade later on? OR..are you going to be locked into that company (OR be married to them) because you’re so heavily invested in their gear? Like for A COUPLE OF EXAMPLES “batteries”, lenses”.

I spent nearly 3 months looking at all the same pro’s & cons as you are. I went to NAB this year and had a first hand look and feel. Talked to a ton of folks and after seeing all that and contemplating the best path for not only now but the future, there was no question that the 300 was the choice.

I came from a tape based HDV back ground and making this leap into P2 work flow had it’s challenges and still does sometimes because I’m still learning, but now, as we grow and upgrade, my choices are far more that going with Sony.

The 300 camera is fabulous. All the talk about rolling shutter, EX1 having a larger sensor etc etc, is a bunch of nonsense. The 300 option vs option, quality, codecs, handling, upgradability, customer support, numerous options for lenses with a host of companies and on & on I could go…you can’t go wrong with investing in a 300.

    That video camera is discontinued.

Besides, all the reviews of the Canon Vixia are much better in almost every way. I’m planning to get one very soon for other applications.

  • I feel like such a dunce. Not only trying to figure this all out but finding it all.

Do these—P2PCCard drivers from Panasonic—come with the unit or are they on the PASS website.? Cause I don’t see those drivers anywhere here unless they have a different name or something.

I mean I see the 1394b Driver but it’s not compatible w/snow. I must not be looking in the right place. Could you point me to where it is?

Sorry if I’ve been a pain today. Still learning.

    You’ve been great and PATIENT.

  • The reason I’m saying this about your answer:
Via USB, yes. Not via firewire. the PCD20 and PCD35 also work via USB on Snow.

Is because this is what Panasonic has on their PASS website:
When using a P2 card on Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) , please use a P2 camera, recorder or P2 drive equiped with USB2.

2.For the followng drivers/software, upgrade are being planned to support the Mac OS 10.6.
    – IEEE1394b driver for AJ-PCD20 series
    – PCI express(PCIe) driver for AJ-PCD35 series
    – P2card formatter for Mac
    – P2 Contents management software (P2CMS) for Mac

That sound like even those 2 devices don’t work.
