July 4, 2011 at 4:17 pm in reply to: Colors not as rich when I export to QT

What’s also interesting is that I just took that exported QT .mov that is a little washed out and just brought it into a new timeline in a new FCP doc and it looks fine there. When I view it in QT it has that washed out look. So apparently it’s the way FCP is interpreting the color. This is weird.

FYI-our entire system is calibrated. Again I’ve used this method for quite a long time & I don’t ever remember running into this before. Obviously some settings have change.

What settings do I need to change to bring FCP & QT to look the same?

I’m resizing them some because they ultimately are going on the web only and don’t need to be that big, however the aspect ratio is the same.

You & I have read many posts over the years people asking advice on what camera is best, what NLE etc. I have always said when choosing a camera, software etc. you’re actually marrying a company. Once you purchase their goods, you invest in lenses, software upgrades and on & on it goes. BUT…the bottom line is, WHO will service you the best in the long run? Who has the best customer service? Who has humans available that can help you when you need them?

Sony is TERRIBLE at customer support at every level. They are so out touch. They are great at cranking out new products every 3 months but taking care of people who buy them…I give them an “F”.

Thanks Bill for the info. I do have a “hotrod” system with a 4TB RAID that delivers about 590MBPS. It can actually handle about 8 streams with no problem.

Well I’ve answered my own question. The 5DMKII is limited to 4GB continuos shoots. BUT…I found a product that will solve my problem where I have 2 cameras in tight locations and need to start & stop them remotely. Also it can be programmed to this automatically.

June 4, 2011 at 3:11 pm in reply to: 5DMKII shutting off after 13 minutes of video

Well I just read in a small little note in the Canon manual that the camera will shut off automatically after 4GB or 29:99 minutes. So shooting 1920×1080 24p, that’s 4GB.

Is there ANY WAY for a work around this limitation?

  • Yep, just choosing OSX was the trick. That’s a weird little glitch, especially when the software notes says, you have to have at least 10.6.6. You’d think it would be under that tab choice.

Do you know where this plugin is installed on the cpu?
