  • I have to say that since then, the problem never occured anymore. Now I’m using the ama-transcode method, which is a lot faster ( 2 x realtime when you go for quarter quality in hd) compared to the original import method…
Maybe you should try Andre, see what happens at your end.

  • Not that I know off..
it’s very strange and has not yet been resolved.
I tried it on antoher machine aswell, one that has leopard instead of snowleapard and mc 3 instead of mc 4 and it gave exactly the same result. Which leads me to think that the problem is in the redfiles.
Maybe it’s because of a camera firmware update or something.

Very interresting to see what will happen on my next job with red.

Ok, all stories have an ending..
All of a sudden I remembered that during preparation, the application crashed just after importing the last quicktime. When I restarted the application the quicktimes were gone. (at least in the bin they were.) So, not willing to wait for more then an hour again while importing quicktimes, i opened the mediatool and found them there. I just dragged them to my rushes bin and I could start the edit. I felt clever.
    There was my mistake.

These quicktimes had gotten, in hidden way, corrupted by the crash. They couldn’t be modified because of that. When I imported them again (and that means importing them as new clips and not batch-importing the old ones) they could be modified just fine.

So I recut my old edit with the new imported quicktimes and I was troublefree finally.

thanks for all of your help.

Hi all, thanks for all of your help.
It’s getting weirder by the minute, I just tried importing some other quicktimes and they were easy as always to modify. Just modify source and voila. The ones I imported earlier still can’t.
The only difference in the quicktimes I can’t modify is they were made with a blackmagic card.

In the end I just edited the edl in text edit but I would still very much like to know why mc is still not letting me adjust the source name in the bin of those blackmagic quicktimes.

any more help is greatly appreciated.
