But I like dissolves…
(the stuff I shoot is unrehearsed, unscripted and unacted and only intended for local viewing. anything that makes things less abrupt is fine by me) -
[Sohrab Sandhu] “the screengrab in my post does not have any watermark on it. And frankly speaking i did not know about ‘Ripples Story’ untill i read this thread.”
To be honest, even after it was pointed out that some screenshots contained identifying information, I still couldn’t see it. Maybe my optometrist is right…

Boy, I feel bad for linking to it. I assumed it was either by an “insider” and would soon be taken down (like the Motion pics) or it was a ‘nudge nudge, wink wink’ sort of “leak”.
But gaining entry into Ripple Training’s Mac, ripping off screenies and posting them? Seriously uncool. Steve and the gang have been good to the Final Cut community and don’t deserve the grief.

Even Larry’s not 100% sure of the release date:
IMPORTANT NOTE: The final content of this seminar will be announced after Apple releases the new version of Final Cut Pro X. If, for any reason, FCP X is not shipping by the time of this event, this event will be postponed.

If it was me, I would use a couple of baluns to run the unbalanced AV as a balanced signal into ethernet for however many metres 50′ is, plug the composite into the projector and the audio into powered speakers. You can get cheap unpowered baluns or more expensive ones.
[Al Herr] “I could send the audio from the headphone jack of the camera “
If I tried that and it didn’t work, I wouldn’t be surprised one little bit. That’s a long way to send a volt.[Al Herr] “Thinking I should avoid using the audio out from the projector due to limited quality.
“
You bet. Those projector speakers aren’t worth using. If the 20 people in the room get a so-so picture, they’ll live with it. If they can’t hear it properly, they won’t be happy at all. My $20 5W logitechs are good for 8 people sitting around a table, but that’s about it. -
[Mark Suszko] “Gee, I’d better take apart the similar setup I have in my home then, as it is obviously impossible”
You split a headphone output and send it 50′ over cheap cabling and it sounds OK at the other end? -
The image quality with composite (RCA) will be fine if the source is good. I’ve looked and looked for anything with HDMI in, but it doesn’t seem to exist.
Alternatively, you could use a DVD recorder with Firewire in. My Panasonic DMR-EZ48V has that. I also have a portable Sony VRD MC6 with FW in, but you can’t monitor the audio from it and it has no playback. The Sony is, however, portable, although it requires a 12V power source.
Set your DVD recorder to auto playback anything it records so people don’t even get to see the crappy menu.

Video is my work. It is also my hobby (sad, I know) so I’ll spend the money to play with it at home.
Mind you, I also shelled out for the Mac OS X Public Beta and OS X 10.0.
I prefer the term “dedicated Mac user”. “Fanboy” sounds demeaning.

Dear Apple,
Please release FCP X now. People are going crazy waiting for it.
Thanks,
Martin.PS, it better not suck.
