Could the camera’s image stabiliser(s) be contributing to this? I seem to recall it being recommended to turn them off unless you are shooting handheld.

Probably better off wishing it was August so you could get up to speed on a difficult project before tackling it with FCP X 🙂

I watched the presentation and had trouble discerning if it was “native” or “converting to ProRes really really fast”.

Love it. I often look enviously at my photographer colleague as she crops merrily away, while I curse the videographer (me) for giving the editor (me) such badly framed video.
Just wait until we ALL have 4k cameras 🙂

If Bruce didn’t want it to be thought of as an upbeat patriotic song, he shouldn’t have written the music like that. I don’t recall him complaining about the sales due to misinterpretation though.
Ditto “Every Breath You Take”. Unless Sting had told me it was about surveillance, stalking, control, etc, I never would have guessed.
I never knew Lust for Life or Under The Bridge were about heroin addiction. Great songs though.
Fortunate Son is played in so many Vietnam War productions that young folk today think it’s just about a cool time in some teens’ lives way back when. Except for the bullets and stuff.

I get pinged all the time by security for taking video in the local hospital. The real hassle is, I work in the damn hospital. After a decade, you think they’d recognise me. Ahhh, security guards. Brains or good looks not required. -
AIC is very limited. It was originally created to deal with HDV, for which high definition is 1440 x 1080 and it is flagged in the NLE to be anamorphic (i.e. non-square pixels) to it is “stretched” to 1920 x 1080.

As a codec it holds up OK for simple editing workflows, but, being 8-bit 4:2:0 colour, the professionals turn up their nose at it.
Still if that’s what he wants/needs, then that’s what he’ll get.

I make corporate videos with limited distribution. My work is point, shoot, edit, distribute. No re-takes.
I started with a Sony PD150, now use a Sony HVR-V1 (tape-based HDV camcorder, and I’ll be glad to see the back of tapes) and would love to get a Sony HXRNX5U. I already have two Sony wireless mics but would consider some wired mics if I was doing more studio (how I refer to my batcave) interviews.
I’d try and get the Sony flash drive unit for the camera too.
