And actually that is good to know about Houdini. A fair amount of discussion about it lately on the Newtek forum plus one of the 3rd party developers has been doing some great things with bridges between a number of other programs & Lightwave, Houdini being one of them.

I’ve had a number of BMD products over he years & have always appreciated the way Grant approached things. Glad to see them succeed. Sort of why I went with Boxx too I suppose.

Hey Steve.

I’m quite pleased with first outings, but still adjusting the seat & putting on the streamers. Hope to take it out for a better drive this evening with AE & LW.

A couple minor issues with some software, still getting my sealegs with Win10, but YIKES. So far I can enable EVERYTHING, crank up the samples and TechPowerUp just goes “huh? You turn on something?” Did one of the Daz Ready to Renders scenes with Max Iray & a couple, “Let’s take ‘er to 11” tweeks, and took maybe 20 mins for a 1K x 1.3K output. When not rendering & just at the Desktop, if not for the power indicator you’d literally have to put your ear up to it to tell it’s running.

I’ve been with Adobe for, well… a long, long time.

Years ago, I won a full Production Premium Suite for CS5 and upgraded to 5.5 then 6. Of the suite, I probably routinely use eight. Running that thru the abacas at $52.99/mo. … a paltry $635.88 for the year. Each year. Most will probably have to add some sort of sales tax I’m sure so pushing $700. About 1/2 – 3/4 of a Social Security check.

I just installed my long ago paid for copy of the CS6 suite on my new Boxx Apexx system. Purrs like a kitten so far but haven’t really pressed anything yet or tried much to see if there are issues as you mention either but suspect not.

I’m not, nor probably ever will need to deal with the latest, bleeding edge 8K formats & esoteric codecs in a, time-is-of-the-ESSENCE, hard deadline day to day environment. Anymore at least. I just works with images & ideas at my own pace.

There is but only for position & size, not scale. In fact if you have a 2nd monitor, I’d recommend breaking the entire panel out & put it there, which is what I evenutally had to do. Single monitor, probably need to make task specific workspaces.

Where the eyes go black, toggle the Transparency grid On/Off. That’ll tell you if it is in fact a compression artifact vs. some sort of keying anomaly. In which case check the Interp footage options that there’s no alpha setting accidentally turned on.

If your clips have no alphas, ya you’ll need to use a blend mode or other means to make them.

With your “W” footage above the “Q”, select the W layer & start playing with the Mode settings. Can’t see Mode? Hit the F4 key.

Yes, you should expect to have trouble.

To be honest, you’ll have the least frustration with a tracking solution rather than try to key, by learning the more fundamentals of Mocha. It may only be time consuming by the way you’ve approached it.

Martin B. frequents this forum and if you vist & post over on one of the Mocha Forums, you’ve discover the expertise of Mary P. as well. If they can’t point you to particular tutorial, they’ll often offer to take a look at your footage.
