Haven’t seen the show to give specifics but the usual places to look are https://aescripts.com and Red Giant https://www.redgiantsoftware.com. Search on distress or glitch. Some are reasonable, others seem a bit pricey. Haven’t heard of any clever ways of doing this sort of thing natively in AE, but ya never know.

Have you tried the F4 key to toggle views?
Or RMB click on the top of the comp panel (where it shows Source Name) and select which columns to show?
Or click the first icon in the bottom most left of the Comp panel to toggle Layers switches?

Not everyone has that luxury unfortunately and I’m simply inquiring as the issue has come up on the Newtek forums.
I’ve remained with the CS6 suite as I got tired of Adobe surprises over the years & feel a bit sorry for the newcomers that don’t get much choice.

Workarounds
If you run into issues because of this change, use any of the following workarounds:
For export formats, use the currently available newer codecs.
For import formats, transcode legacy footage to a newer codec.Perhaps, but do they offer any utility or even recommend a means of doing so?

Hey Ronald,
Very strange indeed. I even tried using my old Nook tablet & had the same issue. So that’s having tried from multiple systems, multiple browsers, & different OS’s. The only common link is the account itself it would seem.
Might there be some means on your end that you can simply get the account or system to think that the form has been checked marked? I could send a jpg of that screen with it marked if there’s some legal reason, but it’s sounding as if that’s not really the issue.

Not specifically, but I do like their products. Picked up one of their small LED panels when they were closing them out a few years back.
Here’s a quick & dirty test by a friend of mine of one of their fresnel units:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRiLTAIHAhwA fraction of the cost of the ARRI L-7. Might give you more flexibilty. More punch that a panel; a harder fresnel when you need it; bounce it or go through a frame when you need to go softer. Nice dim range. Pretty even thoughout the spot/flood range. Very quiet.
The Diva equivs in the LED world are the Kino Celebs. Pretty nice but they’re not cheap of course.

[Steve Bentley] “What version of AE and what version of Element? The new Element may not be compatible back to AE6 which a lot of users are still on.”
No, it is. I’ve been using E3D ver 2.22 (the last available) with CS6 for several years.
But, one needs to be aware of other hardware requirments, specifically video cards. Here’s the list:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kqQP_Okzn_PEJsn0_CstMJUKyXw3VUJPz9-zX85dDag/pub
And at the bottom of this page is the general requirments:

There was another poster earlier today with the same problem. With a basic primative object & no shader applied, it should be quite apparent & normal looking though. In you sample, it seems the tutorial has an additional light or environment. Not seeing that in yours of course.
Only thing I can suggest is to make sure your system meets Element 3D’s requirements, particularly the video card. Perhaps update the drivers if you haven’t tried that yet.
Also, check the suggestions made earlier today & see if those are applicable.

I suppose you could continue researching & figure it out on your own, or:

It all comes down to what your time is worth I suppose.
