I know I am a total illiterate talking to novelists, and I appreciate the kind guidance and understanding.

It seems to be consensus my goal is too optimistic and I agree.

I think educating myself (thanks for tips) and getting hands on experience and then hiring someone with experience, as recommended, is the path to shoot for. On Maui, where I live, I doubt I will be able to find someone who can put together a really nice intro and lower third (already learning correct terminology, oh ya!) but I may be able to find someone who knows FCP well.
