Hi,
yes there is, see manual Tip:If you do not use your camcorder for about
2 months, the built-in rechargeable battery
gets discharged and the date and time settings
may be cleared from the memory. In that case,
charge the rechargeable battery and then set the
date and time again (p. 162).On other Sony cameras they refer to “battery backup” but on the FS5 it is the “built-in rechargeable battery” probably why you couldn’t find it.

November 28, 2017 at 10:46 am in reply to: Sony FS7 mxf file weird issue. Need assistance asap!Hi,
just a guess – but Sony has been moving ahead with standards compared to Premiere Pro’s ability to implement them. Not by much but enough to cause occasional problems. Does the mxf file play correctly in Catalyst Browse (free download from Sony) ? If it does the clip is ok.A way around is to trans code the clip. If you have CC you can test with Media Encoder to put it in another high end format and then even try trans coding back to Mxf (with a content type you can handle). An alternative is Handbrake.
The reason this *might* work is that the Application that is parsing the essence might have a different approach to handling what it perceives as an error. So one might plough on where the other gives up (e.g. hangs, green screen …).
This process might not result in a perfect copy but it is the pragmatic option. -

Adobe just released version 2018 of PPro and this problem could be fixed in there.
If you would like to post a small clip somewhere that has the problem I will run it through.
I think this is the same problem as was reported for the FS5 but it is just a guess. -

thanks for the additional information – most appreciated. So the problem is not what I thought it was.
What I think it is, lack of support from Adobe for this format:
AVC Long GOP High 4:2:2 Profile 10-bit Unconstrained CodingThe same symptoms have been reported on the PXW-X70, FS7 and FS5. going back a couple of years. So I think that is a Sony innovation that not all vendors have fully implemented yet.
As Adobe support said, you can Transcode around this, using Handbrake, or DaVinci Resolve. When Adobe support said that this was not supported, did they add any more detail? it will probably be some part of the format.

October 11, 2017 at 8:08 am in reply to: HDR footage causes green flashes in Premiere ProHi,
there have been similar reports. Make sure you have the very latest Sony Firmware for the FS5.When they say “.mxf isn’t supported” what they meant was that the content from that camera isn’t supported. Mxf is just a container for some other format and it (mxf) has been supported by PPro for years.
DaVinci Resolve is reported to handle the HLG from that camera.
If you post a small clip and related files on dropbox (or similar) I will have a look at it.
Problems were reported in early summer and everyone hoped/assumed that Sony and Adobe were working on a fix between them.

just had a surf around the web, that provided a few hints. It did confirm one of my suspicions. On later pro camcorders Sony package the clip in a .mxf file. One of features of this format is that it can have ‘related files’ and you must always treat these as a group. So think in terms of copying the entire folder and not just individual clips. You may not have selected a mode that produces mxf files so that wouldn’t apply to you. However Catalyst Browse will report if there are related files.Which Editor are you using to look at the clips ? I’ve added a link below where similar problems are discussed. If you are using FCPX on a mac that should be helpful.
If you like, you can post a clip on Dropbox (or similar) and I will have a look at it.

a long shot suggestion – On Catalyst Browse, go to File Properties and look at the Related Files section. Does it reference multiple files? When transferring your media to disk, are you copying the whole card? or just the files you want?

Hi,
I use a D7W monitor, not quite the same as yours.
Usually I connect using the SDI connection but I tried the HDMI connection and it works just fine.
Your monitor will have an input button, probably, and so you have to select between an SDI or HDMI source. You could have he wrong source setting. On the PWW 200 the default setting on the Video menu: SDI/HDMI/
i.LINK I/O Select Selecting input/output signals for the connectors
should beHD SDI & HD HDMI
That is the default when you are using UDF HD mode. Unless you are using SD mode it is difficult to turn the HDMI off [but you can do it if you try].
Good luck

Hi Eric,
did you get anyone? If you didn’t I have a few suggestions.
First is your interest in the FS5 or how to edit footage from it (In Premiere)?
I think a good contact would be Doug Jensen, his Company is Maine Media so not so far to travel. He develops courses and has one on the FS5. The first video is on YouTube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZlBix3a-3wLooking at his web site he has a course coming up soon on large sensor cameras:
https://www.mainemedia.edu/instructors/photo/doug-jensen
Alister Chapman tours giving training. Usually at places that sell the camera, e.g I think Rule in Boston is the closest to you but timing may not match.
Alister has a good talk here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-HrXmRqpME
One last tip for you, don’t be in a rush to get rid of that PMW-200.
