thanks – bang goes my theory.Do you use G-Spot? if so what does it make of the footage? does it propose a codec?
thanks

July 17, 2013 at 9:14 am in reply to: How can I import and edit iPad 4 MOV. files in Vegas 10?Hi, I’m most interested in what the store has to say 🙂
Regarding moving back to an old version of QuickTime… it didn’t work for me, but I have a theory … I think the necessary codec is in QuickTime Pro. The latest version of QuickTime (apparently) disables some or all of the PRO capability and you need to buy it again from Apple. Perhaps for those who the older QuickTime was a solution you already had PRO on your system and reverting to an older QuickTime version re-enabled it.
However I have NOT heard QuickTime Pro works from a credible enough source yet.
Could anyone here, who can currently edit iPhone 5 footage check to see whether they have QuickTime Pro or what Codec G-Spot or Medainfo advise as the correct Codec? My next move is ask some friends with Apples and iPhone and see if they can view or edit footage from their iPhones.

well, I can speak from personal experience on this now 🙁 I put a video up as private; I was only trying to help someone with a render and never intended to publish it as such. In the background was this din. Nevertheless it earned me two strikes. I guess you have to listen to he background as well.

I viewed a video recently that was a session recorded for one of the recent English BVE exhibitions. This topic came up. Essentially YouTube view themselves as a technology/service provider. They don’t do editorial work. When you post a video you have to make a claim that you own the copyright to all the content. Content owners have the right to ask for their content to be taken down.
Content/Copyright owners could make a claim against you; I believe fraud (a false declaration that you own copyright)is a crime.
Having said that there obviously is a lot of copyright material on YouTube, I don’t know if that will help.I attended a viewing recently where a couple showed their winning video of a man that sings Elvis songs in public. The copyright owners for Elvis want in excess of $100 per view. For a popular video you could end up owing quite a lot of money if they come after you.

Hi,
GPU is Graphics Processing Unit, it is a special chip that is designed to perform graphics operations more rapidly than the jack-of-all-trades CPU you normally use.If you have one, it is important to get the latest version of the driver for it and the latest patches from Microsoft for your OS. If you have configured windows update you will have these anyway. You may need to go to the vendor web site to get the latest GPU driver.
So how do you know what you have? the quickest way is on Vegas. Go to the Options Menu and select ‘Preferences’ from the menu item.
On Preferences select the Video tab. Look for ‘GPU acceleration of video processing’. It will either say ‘Off’ (which is Steve’s advice) or list the GPU version you have. If it is NVIDIA go to their website and go to driver downloads, they have a little app that determines what Driver you need and allows you to enrol in a service keeps it updated. If a vendor is in your dropdown you can try switching to ‘Off’ and try again. It is counter-intuitive to turn it off but it sometimes works better without it.

Hi,
I think it does. YouTube usually offers some lower resolution versions of your HD upload, so have you checked back a bit later to see if your HD version is there?

December 2, 2012 at 12:18 pm in reply to: SVP 12 Device Explorer does not select USB devicesI’ve made more progress on this problem. Seems there is a bit of a minefield in naming and programs that handle XDCAM clips. Cutting to the chase the main application for this is:
https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/contentbrowser
which seems to consolidate several xdcam related programs. This runs on Windows 8 (and probably Windows 7 and earlier). Following another tip you can also configure it as an “external video capture program” at Options -> preferences -> video.

November 26, 2012 at 1:51 pm in reply to: SVP 12 Device Explorer does not select USB deviceswell I’ve partial answer. I tried installing all the supplied software on an older laptop (SVP 10, Windows 7 and 32 bit) and XDCAM Explorer started outside of Vegas works like a charm. However from inside Vegas XDCAM and Device explorer are the same.
It looks as though Windows 8 support is lacking for the external XDCAM Explorer. Perhaps I’m not sure what Device Explorer is supposed to do anyway.
