    Hi,
what’s the state of play? are you burning Blu-ray yet?

For DVDA I always render sound and video separately.

When just Vegas “Burn Bu-ray” does it you it seems to render sound and vision separately but it does it all for you.

    Hi,
just a suggestion, are you sure your disk supports writing? On my computer the Blu-ray drive can only read, so I had to go and get an external Blu-Ray writer. I have a Samsung Portable BD Writer model SE-506. I’m sure plenty of other vendors work as well. I use BD-RE disks, you can use these multiple times until you get a good disk.

Once you do a burn play the disk on a device that you would use to play it – i.e. not your computer. I forecast that in the future you will find that the sound level is too low 🙂

    Hi,
can’t really answer your question but here’s a thread in another place that contains some discussion:

    https://www.dvinfo.net/forum/sony-xdcam-ex-cinealta/513849-pmw-200-150-picture-profiles.html

It has a spreadsheet that collects other peoples profiles by the way.
    I don’t think there’s one about matching a camera.

p.s. like the “Boston Afternoon” video.

    Hi David,
    they are DV are they?
I didn’t know what they were but I don’t think you need to worry about them. They don’t come from the camera but Vegas creates them when it imports/sees the MXF file. Vegas saves metadata there but they seem too big for just that.

I ignore them in my workflow, which really means Vegas is using them for its own purposes.

How are they causing you problems?

    Hi,
the PMW200 is in the XDCAM family.

I too don’t understand the question about “numbers”. My closest guess would be something to do with the naming scheme for clips. By default this is nnn_nnnn where the first three numbers are from the serial number of the camera and the last digits increments sequentially. Is that the question?

    Hi Thomas,
I’m all but certain this is the “why” but the “what to do” is a little trickier.
Why? The camera encodes a progressive frame as Interlaced, this is widely known as PsF (for Progressive Segmented Frame). It was done to permit the new Progressive media thru a legacy Interlaced infrastructure. You will find a lot of relevant discussion in this forum and if you google/Bing you will find a whole lot more.
The problem is that some NLE do not correctly recognize it as such.

So your footage needs to be “de-interlaced” but carefully. For example if Vegas de-interlace mode is set to Blend it may unnecessarily degrade your footage. What you want to do is have your two interlaced fields put together is as one progressive frame and not have the NLE try to create any additional data.

How to do this? I would just declare the footage as progressive in the project and render a small clip and have a look at the results.
I will see if I can post some other suggestions a bit later.

    Xana,
the DV camera probably shoots 50i, 50 interlaced fields per sec giving the equivalent 25 full frames per second. It should easily convert to 25p (25 progressive frames per sec. Other regimes are possible, for specialist cameras, but that is what to expect from most DV PAL.

Look at the Sony AVC/MVC Internet templates. You will have to customize one to get what you want.

I wouldn’t be expecting great things because, at the end of the day, it is still SD footage.

    cheers

    Xana,
did you get the numbers the wrong way round? i.e. what you are after is 50i to 25p?

If so what you need to do is de-interlace, otherwise ignore the following 🙂

On the file/project properties, make sure they match your media – use the Match Media Video Settings (top right corner).

Select a de-interlace method. You get choice of Blend Fields/Interpolated fields. I would try both to see which gives best results. The other option is to get yadif for vegas:
    https://www.yohng.com/software/yadifvegas.html
That is supposed to produce good results.

aha I missed the xavc long part in your original post.

Are you able to post a small clip online anywhere? I am analysing clips at the moment 🙂

    thanks
