You don’t need a conventional program switcher, the term you are looking for is a “router”. Not in the computer sense, but a video routing switcher. Or if you’re never going to change the setups, you could look at a combination of Video distribution amplifiers and a video patch bay, a sort of central connection point, where you have a rack-mounted device full of sockets and patch cables that send signals from one point in the rack to another. Searching for those terms on a site like B&H, Markertek, etc. should get you some ideas.

Plugging the BMD 4k back in with the timeline open kills Premiere CC.

Update: Premiere Pro CC WILL come up properly, if the Blackmagic Ultrastudio4K is powered-down first.

Next I will check if It keeps running if I restore power to the BMD4k once Premiere is up.

Not only that, but when it’s rendering your project, we can’t use the machine to work on other people’s stuff, so there’s an “opportunity cost” to rendering that means you’re losing money if you don’t charge for the render time.
You’re using the machines, and what the machines are specifically doing on your time is less a factor than the fat they are running on your project during that time. People who discount overnight renders are being charitable, IMO, but I wouldn’t expect that to be a universal policy.

You’re not “the worst”; you’re a typical client these days.

Instead of the h264 file, try dumbing it down to MPEG2, and the video has to be contained within the same folder as all the other Powerpoint slides and assets. Powerpoint should handle that better.

If he wants to try converting all his files to jpeg, the fast way would be to record a batch action, then apply that to the folder full of .psd’s. The first one you do in real-time, but then the batch action will process the rest of your folder lickety-split.

Mike said what I was going to: this can be executed all within PowerPoint.

Alternatively, if you have DVD authoring software, it could also be done using a menu system and automated go-to’s added to the end of particular files.

If you’re that scared of diving into learning Wings or Watchout, and you don;t have the budget, then doing it all in PPT is what’s going to work “best” for your usier case. And you will come out of it with much stronger skills in PowerPoint as well.
