Apple and Applecare only support the new OS that the machine shipped with (it did ship with 10.4 right?). It may boot, but things like the optical drive won’t work and there is a warning out there that the fans and cooling system won’t work properly.

I don’t have Tiger, but supposedly, the indicator no longer shows signal strength, but rather, signal throughput (i.e. 5Mbps vs. 10Mbps). Kind of a weird change to make… but I would time the speed of the downloads to see if it is a real decrease in “speed” or just perception.

You can probably still open the files from WITHIN the applications themselves, but you can just re-add the .psd or whatever extension and it should recognize what program it belongs to.

The OS will take up almost the entire Hard Drive, but I am running OS 10.3.9 on a Lombard Powerbook: 333MHz, 320MB RAM, 20GB HD. The basic requirement is that your laptop have built in USB, which I believe the Lombard is the first to have.

  • Is it your ISP or your .Mac account that you cannot send from? Recently, a lot of ISPs started blocking the default port for outgoing mail to stop spamming. SBC Yahoo! DSL never warned me, they just turned the port off!

when in slideshow mode, you can’t hit Apple-delete? i won’t be installing 10.4 for quite some time so i haven’t had the opportunity to try it out… And if it doesn’t, there is a section no the Apple website for suggestions.

There would be a folder called iPod Software Updater. As for why it wouldn’t be there? Jeez, why do you need to give them ANOTHER $30 to unlock QT Pro when you’ve paid $129 for Tiger?

You can always download the latest from the Apple site as well: https://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
