I have a 17 inch Mac Book pro with a 5400 drive and it has worked fine in SD and HDV. I was even surprised to find that I could actually capture using a Western Digital 5400 USB2 bus powered external drive for editing in very mobile situations. The only problem was battery power..

I have tried importing them from IPhoto using the 1920×1080 setting, but when they come into FCP, they are NOT full frame. They are turned into other aspect ratio because of the square/ rectangular pixel conversion (i think)

From what I have read regarding the recording capabilities of the dual layer disk on the PDW-700, it says that it can record “In DVCAM mode, users can get about 3 hours 10 minutes of content onto the new disc” Does this mean that this camera can fit into ABC New’s plans but not having to use the PDW-530 which ONLY shoots in SD?

How soon you forget. I remember about three years ago when everyone on these digital blogs were complaining about how evil Pansanonic was for not including a firewire on the SDX-900 , like Sony included on the DSR-500!! Now Panasonic includes the firewire out on the HDX 900 and people still find something to complain about. I think the firewire OUT is a great feature, and the only thing now that I have to complain about is why not firewire IN? Now I have to still spend $200 on a rental of a 1200 firewire deck if I have to output a sequence back to tape.
