  • Missing media files on Cloned Drive

I am using FCP 6.02 (I am in the middle of a very large doc project) and don’t want to update to 6.04 with the additional Quicktime update at this time. I am having trouble with FCP finding all the media files on a drive that I have cloned. All 3000 files are there ( I have clicked on them and played them using Quicktime player) but when I open up the project it says that ALL 3000 files are missing. The drive has been cloned with Carbon Copy Cloner and has the same name. I have tried MANY times to reconnect the media by both locate , and search but it finds none of the files. If I go into FCP, I can reconnect i individual file if I know the exact location on the drive, and it will reconnect that single file. But what about the other 2999 files? I have trashed all my preferences. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Are you sure the drive name is identical? It might have been better to use media manager to create a copy on the other drive. It is dangerous to have two drives with identical names.

Not sure why you can’t reconnect all the files. If the file names and drive names are indeed identical, then it shouldn’t need to reconnect at all.

[Mark Shepherd] “Yes, the drives have the same exact name..”

I wonder if the system is reading the fact that the drive ID is somehow different. Either way, if the file names are identical, then you should be able to reconnect everything.
