October 31, 2010 at 11:04 am in reply to: Corrupt XDCAM EX1 Clips — Will Not ImportI too had a critical crash shooting a tv pilot and it was underwater nonetheless. Totally not reshootable.
I worked for weeks and weeks at the solution. Digging up my old roots and former bitnibbler days, I think I’ve developed what I think is a relatively reliable way of getting back almost all files. I’ve even been able to rebuild the bpav folder on a few occasions so everything read just fine in clip browser and the camera. But at the least I got the mp4s back. Usually, the clip being shot during the crash was only partially recovered.
I need more samples to try out my techniques on. If you have a corrupt sd card shot on an ex1 or ex3, and have exhausted all other software options or cant afford the clean room services, please contact me. I’m not charging. I want to prove my techniques will work consistently. If I can help you get your files back, I may ask for recommendations and a review later.
Whatever you do, dont write on the card again. Throw on the write protect tab. My technique does not write to the card, I just read from it. I end up using another card to test my recoveries with.
I’m serious…I need some more corrupt cards for testing and free recovery for you.

I’m looking for cards that cant be read at all. Usually this happens when you get media error but not the option in the menu to restore it. Aeroquater, helps repair corrupt video files. I’m trying to recover lost content for folks.

Just to be clear. I cave CAP files that were created for integration into standard def line 21 encoding. I am not interested in line 21 encoding. I am interested in SCC files for encoding CC in HD files using Vegas 9d. What I need to do is convert the CAP file into a SCC file. An anology would be a want to convert my WORD PERFECT document into a WORD document. I just want to convert the *.cap files into *.scc files. This has nothing to do with line 21 encoding. It has to do with file type conversion. Thanks – Mark

Working my way thru the CC process with Vegas. I have an entire set of CAP files from standard def. I need to convert them to SCC files for Vegas. So far Ive only seen expensive software to do the conversion and this site but it doesnt take CAP files

Randy, I didn’t see where you mentioned if the original BPAV files were already gone and could not be used to just import directly into FCP using the log and capture or the stand alone sony app xdcam transfer.
If you no longer have access to the BPAVS, then what was the 35 dollar solution you found. Was it lossless and quick? Let us/me know –
