First of all thanks for the troubleshooting link.
But quite frankly this is bull***t. Premiere cs4 is not a first run software and I am not a beta tester. I bought this software to edit video not spend all my time troubleshooting. I have spent countless hours, days actually, trying to get this software to do what it is advertised to do. I have removed and reinstalled premiere, reformatted and installed Vista and then CS4 and it still won’t work correctly. The only other software installed is Office 2003. Some of my issues are:
The monitor display freezes importing from my XH A1 if I stop and hit play again so I have to use the tiny LCD on the camera.
The only format I can export in is Windows Media. Anything else will start encoding and after between one and two minutes will hang, eventually premiere stops responding.
I save every time I make a change because it will probably crash.
If I undock a panel there are no drop zones to put it back. I have to reset the workspace to go back to normal. Worked fine in CS3.
BTW I am running 64 bit Vista Business, two 2.7 quad cores with 6 gigs of ram on an HP box that was, according to HP, designed for video editing. The box is a rocket ship.
Sorry for the rant, I don’t usually do this, but I am at wits end. I run a network with 800 PC’s, 16 servers, an over 40 switches and I have never experienced this kind of problem with any software. I have a project due for the school district I work at and will not be able to get it done.
Most threads end without resolution of the problem. Could someone respond and tell me how to get things working? I don’t even mind if you tell me I’m an idiot. That I could live with!
