  • The Dell has a much higher contrast ratio though, 1000:1 over the cinema displays 400:1. This would surely mean blacker blacks and better depth on HD playouts through the HDlink or am I wrong?

    Hi Steve, Luke

Found your thread and wondered if you’d managed to resolve the issue. I’m currently thinking of buying a new system and was considering using the HDlink with Dell 24inch monitors for both HD and SD work.

Do you still have the flicker? Is it enough to distract whilst editing? How do you find the DELL 24’s are they good for grading? Are they better/the same/worse than the Apple cinema displays?

Sorry for all the questions just interested to know before I splash our hard earned cash

    Cheers

  • Hi, sorry to piggyback on your post but:

This is something I would really like to know as well. I have been looking into options for a new FCP HD setup and liked the look of the HD-link. I was thinking of going for the Dell 24 inch monitors as too.

How well does this system work? Can you callibrate the monitor for effective colour grading. I’d be very interested in any feedback.

    Cheers
