Jarvis,
If you’re still monitoring this thread… can you provide an update to how your system is working??? Any issues??? Do you have the large file reading issue that Randell is seeing???
Thanks,
Mark

October 30, 2008 at 10:34 pm in reply to: Possible Solution to HDMI output issues with Intensity CardNeal,
Not a problem until you need the bandwidth of slot 4 for something else… like a RAID controller.
I had one of the problem cards initially in slot 3 and went thru moving it to slot 4 based on BMD recommendations. Still wouldn’t work. I finally got a replacement from them and it has had no issues in slot 3. Last I heard from BMD customer service, they were not able to get my old card to work either and were sending it back the engineering group.
Glad to here it all worked out for you.

Just to complete this thread… After contacting BM support and walking thru their verification process; I returned the card last week and received a new one today. It works perfectly.
I must add props to the BM customer service people here in the States. They are real stand up folks. They replaced my card even though it was 6 months out of warranty. I am one satified customer!!! Thanks Blackmagic!!!

Hey Nick,
I think BM monitoring this forum is spotty at best, which is a shame as I’m betting most of their customer base walks thru the cow patch at least occasionally. On the plus side, the few times I’ve had contact with any of their people they’ve been more than helpful.
RMA… Return Merchandise Authorization… I’m guessing it’s a USofA thing. And no I didn’t getting it working completely. Only when I had my camera plugged in would it output anything from a playbacked file. Anyway, the card has been returned and they are looking into it. Fortunately, I’m at a point that I don’t need it for the next week or so.
Good Luck,

Nick,
I had a very similar problem about 2 weeks back… You can search for my name for the details… anyway, send your details to the bm customer email address found on their website. For me, the card has been RMA’ed and I’m waiting on they’re response.

I’ve been using the Intensity for capture with an HV20 for several months now with no issues. Should be the same for the HV30. You’ll only get a bump in quality if you’re capturing live… that is, not just playing back a tape. If you’re just ingesting tapes via HDMI there is no benefit over firewire as quality will be the same but you’ll lose the metadata.
As for monitoring out of you time line or playback, I’m just starting to sort this all out and I’m having a problem with it. See my post a few down from yours. It’s working for me, but only if I have my camera plugged into the input HDMI and turned on.
For live capture it’s been great and I’m sure once I get this other issue worked out it will be a real work horse for me.

An update… with a little tweaking I’ve got it to play in FCP now… BUT same issue as Media Express, it’ll only work IF I have my camera plugged into the HDMI input port. Is this normal??? If it is, it doesn’t seem to me that it should be.

Jarvis,
I’m not sure I can help you… I’m just a want-a-be 3522 owner. However, what you’re painting is not a pretty picture. Anyway, I’m going to do a little digging, I’ll let you know if I come up with anything.

How about sending them an email and asking them???
