Thank you both for your responses. I have resized the images and they are now tiffs and are working much faster in FCP. As for using Motion, a good suggestion, and it would have been my first choice. However, in short: a lot of vital Motion files were destroyed and it needs to be reinstalled (Not Myself). Reinstallation will happen soon, and in the not too distant future I hope** to have the new Final Cut Studio, but as deadlines don’t wait so I’m making due (I also don’t know about reinstalling in the middle of a project). And thanks to you guys I can get on with things with fewer problems and more solutions!

As an update: The problem has been solved (not as high a quality as I would have liked, but sufficient for the task, it seems). Thanks for the inputs. Apologies concerning MPEG Streamclip. I was unaware that this was a program, but thought you were talking about MPEG Stream as a format. I now have Streamclip and will test it out in future projects if this is ever to arise again (and I’m crossing my fingers that it doesn’t). Thanks again.

Also, sorry if this is late, but if you need to have the .m2v format for DVD or whatnot, export the audio separately as .ac3 or whatever format you desire.

I mentioned my export to mpg-4 is incompatible with their system, I don’t know why, but so is MPG-2. I believe the answer to my question is: “A Higher quality MPG-1 can NOT be exported under the current circumstances, find an alternate method.” If this is not true, let me know! If it is, I will convey the message to the company and hopefully find some other way.

I sent a CD containing the spots as MPEG program streams, but it was incompatible; “Unable to locate MPEG 2 Decoder” is the error they received. Is there another type of stream I should try? Is there a way to export out of FCP to mpeg-1 with a bitrate greater than 2 Mbps?

M2V is a video-only format. If it has to be m2v, you won’t be able to have audio. Try exporting to Mpeg-2 Program Stream, this will have .mpeg extension and contain both the audio and video.
