Thanks Jeremy. So nice to get confirmation on what I suspected was true.

Of all the tools at my disposal, these forums are right up there with the best of them.

I rarely post because I almost always find my answers in previous threads because of the time all of you moderators and knowledgable folks put in. Your good karma must be off the charts…Thank You!

    Thanks for the response Jeff.

I can already go component to HD-SDI using my io to lose the long GOP.

To clarify my question, I’m wondering how analog input using component will compare to keeping it all digital by putting the HD-Connect in the mix and using the firewire export instead of the component. Is it even worth the bother? Will I see any difference? I’m scared having another box in the lineup will just be asking for problems.

    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply.
    It was dv footage.
I had done an alpha track matte with the footage to about 14 ai layers and tracked a camera through the comp, it looked fine, but the layers then disapeared in the middle third of the comp (beginning and end rendered fine). The camera was definately in perfect range to see the layers, but they would just not come up until later in the comp. I precomped all the dv/ai tracked footage and then I could see them all throughout the entire comp, but that made the footage look bad.
I figured out that precomping was not the answer; I needed to just copy masks onto solids instead of using the ai layer for the mattes. Now all is well after the mini rebuild, but still not sure why the mattes were not seeing through that part of the comp using the ai layers (something was in the way of the camera that was invisable to me).
Sadly I think I learned this lesson already years ago…

Ok thanks for the reply Zax
Getting the green light for software upgrades is not always easy in a large company when budgets are maxed (no matter what the price), and the paperwork involved is a hinderance, when you really don’t need anything in the new version, just need one version to work. Thought I’d check, but will get the request in motion.

I guess once you go to AE 6.5 you also have to upgrade to Invig 4.0 Pro, since 3.09 Pro is not on the dowload list and anything below that gives constant memory errors?
Our investment in 3.0 Pro is gone?
    Thanks

I downloaded this zip but my authorization code won’t work for it. It was from 3.0 Pro
